Our sleeping system allows us to adapt to the adventure. It includes these components, bag, shelter, pad, which we will swap out as our planning dictates:
  • (1) a lightweight a synthetic and/or down bag,
  • (2) a 2-person tent or one person bivy bag (light for trekking or heavier for kayaking) or an emergency space blanket when going very light, and
  • (3) perhaps a sleeping bag pad (usually only when kayaking).

3. It's uses...

The blanket is totally reusable and will last a very long time. There are reports and samples over 25 years old.

This blanket will reflect and help retain over 80% of radiated body heat, providing warmth and protection, even in sub zero temperatures.

Shelter: Use as a personal emergency shelter against the effects of wind, rain and cold. Use the silver side facing towards you for maximum reflectivity. Use as a sun reflector by facing silver side outward or line the inside of your tent to keep out heat or cold.

Medical: Help prevent hypothermia by maintaining body heat. Sit or squat, when possible, to effectively concentrate your core body heat. Protect your head and chest area. Move around frequently, to maintain good circulation and create body heat.
